Celebrating Christmas 2010

"On the fifth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree."

It's the fifth day of Christmas but the Christmas feeling is still in the air. Come on, there are, after all, twelve days of Christmas...

It's hard not to catch the Christmas feeling.  Shopping malls have put up christmas trees with lights and ornaments as early as November.

Christmas is all about spending time with family.  Of course, whenever there is a family gathering, there is food.  As a tradition, mother cooked 'daging masak hitam' and chicken curry.  There are also cakes,

bread,

ketupat,

sweets

 and christmas cookies

biskut makmur
biskut conflakes
biskut cincin
As we grow older, it's no longer about christmas tree and presents underneath it ~ have not had put up Christmas tree for years now ~ I still received gifts though, lesser and lesser each year, now mostly chocolates...

Soon it will be the end of the year and back to reality ~  I mean work ~ how time flies.  Before we know it, we'll be at work and looking forward to celebrating another festival...

Till next week, happy holidays and happy new year 2011!

Hair straightening

I have unmanageable hair so I kinda have to do hair straightening which is often called as "rebonding" twice a year.  I usually don't go to the same hair salon whatever the outcome is.

This afternoon I saw a banner outside a hair salon ~ Cut and Curl Hair Image Studio ~ :  rebonding for all hair length from RM68  to RM188.  I walked in and asked how much it would cost for my hair.  The hairstylist said it is up to me to choose as the price is the same for all hair length and the different is only the products used.  For RM188, Shiseido products are used. There are 7 prices to choose from: RM68, RM88, RM108, RM128, RM148, RM168 and RM188.  Taking into consideration that I am gonna go through this whole process again maybe in 6 months' time, I chose the one that costs RM128.

I was told that it would take 3 hours which is fine with me. It started at 4 pm.  I was so sleepy from the start...  while waiting, I noticed that there are only 5 hairdressing tables.  Wow, this must be the smallest hair salon I've ever been!

I was getting hungry and was surprised that by 8 pm, I have not had my hair steamed.  I know rebonding is a very time consuming process but not this longgg?!  It was 8.45 pm when it was finally done.  Wow, that is almost 5 hours!

I've actually taken the 'before and after' photos to see if the outcome of that 4 hours and 45 minutes is worth it but looking at both photos, I can't see any difference.  Well, it's not that bad, really, at least my hair now stays in place.

Till next week, hope I'll have better experience to share...

Eating Japanese food

I've heard of Sushi Tei but never been there before. Sushi Tei launched its third restaurant in Malaysia at Pavilion on September 21, 2010.  The other two outlets are at Tropicana City Mall and The Gardens Mall.  Decided to go to the one in Pavilion as it is the nearest to the office.

We started with kaisen kaminabe (a mixed seafood paper hot pot of prawn, scallop, zuwai crab and salmon)
and special unagi
followed by yakiniku don (pan fried beef on rice), ten don (mixed tempura on rice) and yakitori don (pan fried chicken on rice)
takoyaki (octopus balls)
soft shell crab maki
and volcano roll ~yummy ~
I've always like Japanese food and I'm coming back for more ^_^

Watching TV

Guess it is everyone's favourite pastime.  Well, maybe not everyone but most...

                                            This is mine

I've never missed F1 races even though Kimi Raikkonen ~ my favourite F1 driver ~ is now racing in WRC and not F1.

There are many television series that I follow religiously:
medical drama: Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice & House
crime drama: CSI, NCIS & Bones
musical-comedy drama: Glee
comedy drama: Desperate Housewives
sitcom: Cougar Town & How I Met Your Mother
entertainment: E-News
reality show: American Idol, America's Next Top Model & Amazing Race Asia
talk show: The Oprah Winfrey Show
and many, many more...

I also watch news ~ when I'm not watching F1 or any of my favourite TV series, that is ~ awards show and movies.

Watching TV for hour upon hour obviously is not the best way to spend leisure time so now I'm trying to cut off the hours I spend in front of the TV.  Hmmm, easier said than done

Till next week, ~_^

Blogging

I've wanted to do this for years and as we are approaching the end of 2010, I finally decided to just do it.  Have to use my 'book' more eh?

Today is the first day of December and in another month, we'll be in the new year of 2011.  Looking back at the whole year ~ with another month to go ~ it has not been a good one.

Health:  Not been feeling well most of the year - fever and flu.  Not  forgetting the admission to hospital not once but twice.
Work:  No promotion despite everything
Love:  Still single
Money:  Didn't manage to save much
Holiday:  None

So many things have happened.  To sum it all up, it has been a series of unfortunate events.

Let's just hope the rest of the year will not be worse than it already has.

Till next week, cheers ^_^
