Eating Balinese food

Last Tuesday was a public holiday so I had a very late lunch.  I know I was hungry but just didn't know where to go.  Then I remembered there is a retail complex in Bangsar South which I've never been before. We went there and ended up having lunch at BaliFeel.
It is located at The Sphere, Avenue 1, Bangsar South
It offers authentic Balinese dishes.
We had Kenangan BaliFeel (a combination of grilled chicken wing, sate lilit and cumi cumi served with lalap and spicy sambal)
Siap Megoreng (deep fried marinated half chicken served with lalap and spicy sambal)
Wadeng Sareh (lemongrass tea)
and Es Teller (mix fruits dessert)

Well, nice food, affordable, cozy environment, easy to find parking... didn't know there is such a place in this part of the city

Till next week, let's find something to eat :)

Celebrating Chinese New Year 2011

Chinese New Year festival begins on the first day of the first moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the fifteenth day. February 3, 2011 marks the start of the year of the rabbit.

As early as the second week of January, I received a Chinese New Year card and a hamper.

You know the celebration is coming when you see the decorations at shopping malls.  You may even enjoy the lion or dragon dance performances to commemorate the festival.

The main event in ushering in the New Year is the tossing of the yee sang, a traditional New Year dish, a simple mixture of thin slices of raw fish, shredded vegetables, herbs and sauces.  All the ingredients for the dish are served separately on the same plate, and would then be tossed and mixed, carried with chopsticks high in the air by all at the table, while saying out loud the word loh hei, which means liveliness, prosperity and longevity. This practice is said to herald prosperity for the coming year.

It is customary for married couples to give children and unmarried adults money inserted in red packets known as ang pow, as a gesture to mean that the recipient will enjoy a fruitful and wealthy life.  As I'm still not married, I got to receive ang pow ^.^

During Chinese New Year, 'open' houses are organised for relatives and friends so last Sunday, I went to three.  It was fun meeting those we haven't met for quite a while amidst enjoying good home-cooked meal.

Till next week, happy Chap Goh Meh!

Eating Lebanese food

Work had been pretty intense lately so I was looking forward to this Chinese New Year break.  Haven't been spending much time at home so I was happy just to be relaxing in my little crib.

Didn't spend the whole time at home though.  Come on, a girl needs a breather from home-cooked meal *_^ Opted for Middle Eastern cuisine so we went to Marosh Restaurant in BB Park for dinner on the second day of Chinese New Year.

We had lamb chop
~ comes with pita bread ~
beryani rice
and shish taouk
~ also comes with pita bread ~
Apparently, pita bread is an essential part of any Lebanese meal.  Each serving is so big it is more to cater big eaters.  It has been an interesting experience and I don't mind trying their other dishes.

Till next week, let's all hope that the auspicious year of rabbit brings wealth, happiness and excellent health

Morning walk in Taman Tasik Titiwangsa

After walking in Taman Tasik Perdana for the first time two weeks ago, two days later, I decided that it is time to pay my first visit to another well known lake garden, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.
Taman Tasik Titiwangsa is a 46-hectare recreational park located on Jalan Kuantan, northeast of Kuala Lumpur.
Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower are visible from the lake,
so is Istana Budaya.
Like other lake gardens, it has jogging tracks, exercise stations and children playground.

What's more, canoeing and aqua biking are also available, so is horse riding with a trainer at hand to walk the horse with the rider.

I may be less impressed with this place but I may actually come again.

Till next week, let's visit more parks.
