Morning walk in Taman Tasik Perdana

Familiar with the idiom 'walk in the park'?  Yeah, it means something that is very easy to do or accomplish, a piece of cake...  Anyway, here I mean it literally.

Last Thursday, on Thaipusam Day, I went to Taman Tasik Perdana or Perdana Lake Gardens for the first time after years of staying in KL.

Taman Tasik Perdana is the brainchild of Alfred Venning, the British State Treasurer in the 1880s.
It is built around an artificial lake.
There are children playgrounds, exercise stations, jogging tracks,
lots of artificial waterfalls,

fountains,
ducks swimming in the lake,
Panggung Anniversari,
~ Panggung Anniversari, set in a secluded valley, is a regular venue for musical and cultural performances ~
Taman Rusa dan Kancil where there are a few mouse deers and deers lazing around, Taman Herba and many many more.

We walk around the park and this unique plant caught my eyes
~ look like huge mushrooms, huh? ~

Walking in the park is a good exercise.  It is so refreshing and this is definitely a good place to jog or walk.  I'm gonna come again, for sure.

Till next week, looking forward to my next visits

Reading newspapers

Reading newspapers can increase knowledge and current awareness of what is going on around the world.  It also alerts us to upcoming events in sports, entertainment, community activities, etc.  It's one of the ways I keep up on current affairs.

I read newspapers in the morning before I start work.  If I don't get to read it in the morning, I read it after work at home in the evening.  Not that I read the whole thing. I read the local and international news, entertainment or lifestyle section and sometimes, sports.  I just flip through the rest.  I probably skip the advertisement and business section unless I'm looking for something in particular.

I like reading the reviews for movies, books and music.  They keep me updated and sometimes influence my decision whether to watch the movie or not, buy the book or not or listen to the song or not.

TV and internet provide news and information faster, cheaper and more frequently than newspapers.  Although I watch news on tv and read it over the internet, I still prefer reading newspapers.

Till next week, let me continue reading the newspapers ^^

Celebrating birthday at Rendezvous Steak Garden

It is kinda a tradition to celebrate a colleague's birthday, the close ones, of course.  So last Wednesday, on the birthday girl's choice, eleven of us had dinner at Rendezvous Steak Garden at Jalan Kampung Pandan.  Haven't been here for years.

We had garlic bread

potato skin

escargots
 ~ now this I didn't dare to try ~

tomyam

salmon steak

grilled lamb leg

lamb shank

and a few more...
~ we couldn't have eaten so little, right ~

...  and finally, the birthday cake

Not much changes to the place since the last time I've been here.  The food and the environment is pretty much the same.  Anyway, the birthday girl was happy and that is all that matters.

Till next week, looking forward to more birthday celebrations :)

Celebrating new year 2011

People all over the world celebrate new year with hope and enthusiasm.  We bid farewell to the old year and usher in the new year.

I had hi-tea with an old friend in the afternoon
- had sandwich bar

and palmelia clubhouse sandwich

followed by dinner with family

corn soup

cuttlefish

vegetable

crab

steamed fish

While people were out to new year countdown parties, cheering and wishing each other a happy new year when the clock strikes 12, I prefer to sit back home and just watch tv.  You know it's 12 when you hear the firecrackers! What a pathetic way to welcome the new year huh?

For years now, I've spent the new year day at the airport catching the flight back... listing down the new year's resolutions, reflecting on the changes I would like to make and things I wanna get and achieve and looking forward to the new year.

Not even a celebration but just got to mention about the new year ^.^

Till next week, looking forward to a memorable year with all (at least most) wishes come true.
