Bangkok trip

While having lunch with my friend on Saturday, June 23, 2018, we decided to go to Bangkok as she has never been there. The last time I've been to Bangkok was in March 2005 which was more than 13 years ago. We departed from KLIA at 12.20pm on Friday, September 7, 2018 and arrived at 1.25 pm at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Day 1 Friday, September 7, 2018
2.15pm - 2.50pm Left Suvarnabhumi Airport by taxi (THB500)
3pm Checked in at Novotel Bangkok Platinum located at 220 Petchaburi Rd, Ratchathewi, 10400 Bangkok.

5.08pm - 5.55pm Left the hotel by taxi (THB250)

6.00pm - 7.25pm Traditional dinner set while watching traditional dance show

The Thai dinner set includes crispy rice with coconut dipping sauce, chicken satay, stir-fried mixed vegetable, green curry chicken, tom yam kung, steamed rice and mixed fruits with tea.

7.30pm - 8.50pm Calypso Cabaret @ Asiatique The Riverfront

It's Calypso Cabaret's 30th anniversary so we received coin-sized chocolate.

9.30pm - 9.40pm Got on the Asiatique Sky (THB400) for night view of the city.

10.20pm - 10.40pm Left Asiatique The Riverfront by taxi (THB120).

Day 2 Saturday, September 8, 2018

8.05am - 8.50am Breakfast at McD

9.05am - 9.25am Took a taxi to Grand Palace (THB100).

Entrance fee is THB500.

10.30am - 12.00pm Left the pier for Talingchan floating market (THB700).

I had the chocolate crepe (THB35).

12.15pm - 12.40pm Took taxi to Chinatown (THB200).

12.50pm - 1.30pm Lunch at Roj Bakery (THB245).

1.50pm - 3.00pm Left Chinatown by taxi (THB200).

Bought coconut ice-cream (THB60) and

passion fruit ice-cream (THB60).

7.00pm - 7.50pm Dinner at Hua Seng Hong (THB877.75).

8.00pm - 9.05pm Had Thai massage (THB250)

9.05pm - 9.50pm Walked around Pratunam market

Day 3 Sunday, September 9, 2018

8.10am - 8.25am Took taxi to Chatuchak Weekend Market (THB140).

8.30am - 9.00am Croissant (THB50)

with latte (THB50)

and honey lemon tea (THB40) with beef burger (THB115) for breakfast.

1.30pm - 2.00pm Foot massage (THB250)

2.10pm - 2.47pm Lunch at Aree Burger

French fries (THB65), chicken kebab (THB70), hot tea (THB20),

chicken burger (THB70) and iced lemon tea (THB30).

Can't missed the chance to try the famous coconut ice-cream (THB60).

It tasted so delicious!

3.37pm - 4.05pm Left Chatuchak market by taxi (THB130).

4.20pm - 5.30pm Took the hotel's tuk tuk to Siam Square and spent an hour there.

5.50pm - 6.50pm Shopping at Big C

7.00pm - 7.30 pm Beef kuay teow soup (THB250) at Food Jungle for dinner.

Day 4 Monday, September 10, 2018

6.30am - 7.05am Picked up from the hotel.

7.57am - 9.34am Bangkok to Ayutthaya.

6.10pm - 7.00pm Fried shrimp, oyster and cuttlefish (THB150) at Food Jungle for dinner.

Day 5 Tuesday, September 11, 2018

3.35pm - 4.40pm Took taxi to Chocolate Ville (THB350).

We ordered coconut juice,

kailan, steamed sea bass in spicy lime soup (THB495) and clear tom yum seafood soup (THB235).

It was raining heavily as we finished dinner.

Day 6 Wednesday, September 12, 2018

7.50am - 9.00am Buffet breakfast at the hotel

Checked out from the hotel

Departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport at 2.15pm and reached KLIA at 5.25pm.

Celebrating birthday at Chequers

Last Monday, September 17, 2018, I treated a friend for her birthday brunch at Chequers. Her actual birthday was on September 13, 2018. 

Chequers is located at 153, Jalan Aminuddin Baki, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, 60000 KL. Opening hours are from 8 am to 11 pm daily. It is closed on Wednesdays. Chequers is an American restaurant serving American meals with local and halal ingredients.

I had hot Amber infused tea (RM11) ~ apple, cinnamon, rosemary and lemon ~ while my friend had sunrise passion (RM11) ~ passion fruit with lemonade ~

She had Down Home Benny (RM21)
~ waffle, beef bacon, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, guacamole and water cress ~

while I had breakfast pancakes (RM17)
 ~ homemade pancakes served with turkey ham, sliced cheese, sunny side egg and maple syrup ~

 We shared crispy popcorn chicken with hot honey sauce (RM12) and

 chocoholic (RM18)
~ chocolate semifreddo on waffle crust, almond brittles, oreo crumbles, chocolate ice-cream and mixed fruits   ~

Location ~ quite a distance

Seating ~ indoor and outdoor

Food presentation ~ nice

Portion ~ standard

Taste ~ delicious

Price ~ affordable

Service ~ good

Celebrating birthday at Hoshino Coffee

Last Wednesday, September 5, 2018, I treated an ex-colleague for her birthday dinner at Hoshino Coffee. Her actual birthday is on this coming Saturday, September 8, 2018. Hoshino Coffee is located at Unit 27-G & 27-1, Signature Office, The Boulevard, Mid Valley City, 59200 KL. Opening hours are from 10 am to 10 pm daily. 

 I ordered orange juice (RM12)

 and Hoshino spaghetti with eggplant, chicken bacon, shimeji and chicken sausage (RM21.90)

 while my ex-colleague ordered salmon with wasabi cream sauce spaghetti (RM29.60)

 and the birthday girl ordered Hoshino pot-baked curry rice with chicken (RM26.30).

 We also shared pancake souffle with maple syrup (RM16.40).

Location ~ convenient as it is in a shopping mall

Food presentation ~ typical

Portion ~ standard for food but too little for drink

Taste ~ delicious

Price ~ affordable

Service ~ alright even though have to pay at the counter

Coming back? ~ highly unlikely

Visiting a patient at Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur Hospital

My colleague had a fall and fractured her left leg during lunch time on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. She was brought to Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya by ambulance. She was later transferred to Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur Hospital.  Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur Hospital is located at 282 & 286 Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur. It was officially opened by our Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed on December 16, 1997.

Two colleagues visited her after work on Friday, August 10, 2018 and delivered a fruit basket from the department.

I visited her the next day at 2pm and stayed for almost 2 hours. Bought her a chocolate bouquet.

She was discharged on Saturday, August 18, 2018 and was given a few months rest from work.
