On Monday, September 26, 2016, my friend cooked fried noodles with beefballs for lunch. Left Norbury station at 2.43 pm and reached Gatwick Airport at 3.20 pm.
The flight departed from London Gatwick at 5.10 pm and arrived at Leonardo da Vinci Airport at 8.40 pm. Took the train, Trenitalia (€14) from Fiumicino Aeroporto at 9.23 pm and reached Roma Termini at 9.55 pm.
Checked in Andreotti Hotel (£367.07) at 10.15 pm.
No mineral water bottle in the room so had to go down and bought one (€1.50) at a cafe nearby.
Breakfast is included.
Breakfast buffet consists of wide selection of
yogurt, eggs, syrup, fruits,
cakes, criossants, toast,
baked beans
and so on.
On Tuesday, September 27, 2016, walked to Roma Termini at 6.45 pm to buy train tickets (€29.90) to Florence. Then walked back to the hotel for breakfast.
Departed from Roma Termini at 8.19 am and arrived at Firenze Santa Maria Novella at 10 am. Then took the 10.29 am train (€8.40) to Pisa. Arrived at Stazione Pisa Centrale at 11.32 am.
Got on the bus (€1.20) at 11.45 am and reached The Square of Miracles at noon.
The Square is dominated by four great religious edifices: the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Baptistry, the Campanile and the Camposanto Monumentale.
Walked around for half an hour before taking the bus back to Stazione Pisa Centrale at 1.08 pm.
Left Pisa Centrale (€8.40) at 1.35 pm and reached Firenze Santa Maria Novella at 2.42 pm. Incurred penalty €5 penalty for not validating the ticket at the station first.
Bought chicken burger and apple juice (€3.30) at McDonald's before walking to Hard Rock Cafe Firenze and were there from 4.35 pm to 5.01 pm.
Departed from Firenze Santa Maria Novella (€29.90) at 7.26 pm and arrived at Roma Termini at 9 pm.
On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, had breakfast at the hotel before walking to Roma Termini. Took the 10.15 am train (€49.90) and reached Venezia Santa Lucia at 2.07 pm.
Had a very late lunch at McDonald's at 4.01 pm. Ordered chicken burger with salad and orange juice (€5.90).
Left Venezia Santa Lucia (€49.90) at 7 pm and reached Roma Termini at 10.45 pm.
On Thursday, September 29, 2016, decided to go to Vatican City after breakfast at the hotel. Left Roma Termini (€1.50) at 9.52 am and reached Ottaviano at 10.05 am.
Queued for entrance ticket (€16) from 10.22 am to 11.59 am. Visited Musei Vaticani from noon to 1.15 pm. Then queued from 1.54 pm to 2.15 pm to enter St Peter's Basilica. Walked around till 3.05 pm. Left Ottaviano (€1.50) at 3.22 pm and stopped at Barberini at 3.31 pm.
Dropped by to Hard Rock Cafe at 3.45 pm before walking back to the hotel. Got on the 24 hours Hop-on Hop-off (€22) from 5.21 pm to 6.43 pm.
Ordered spaghetti and mineral water (€6.50) at Termini Halal Food for lunch at 4.15 pm.
Bought mixed cut fruits (€2.50) on the way back.
On Friday, September 30, 2016, checked out by paying the city tax, €16 at 8.35 am after breakfast. Got on the Hop-on Hop-off bus at 9 am and stopped at Colosseum.
Walked around Colosseum (€14) from 9.23 am to 10.11 am.
Got back on the Hop-on Hop-off bus from 11.20 am to 2.09 pm.
Left Roma Termini (€6) at 4.05 pm and reached Fiumicino at 5.07 pm.
While waiting to board the flight, ordered some potatoes ~ yummy.
Departed from Leonardo da Vinci Airport at 9.15 pm and arrived at London Gatwick at 11.45 pm. Five days are obviously not enough to spend here. Wish I got longer time.
