Working out in the gym

Everyone knows that it is important to exercise. While most people exercise to lose weight, I simply exercise for a healthy life.  I didn't sign up for any gym membership.  I just go to the gym at my condo.

I walk or run on the treadmill or
cycle on the exercise bike for an hour or so.
While I spent at least three times a week at the gym last year, I've only managed to do so once or twice a week this year.  I really have to try harder to make time to go to the gym.

Till next week, let's hit the gym.

Taman Tasik Permaisuri

Malaysians have been asked to walk 10,000 steps a day as part of their healthy lifestyle regime.  Just saying, not that I'm counting my daily steps.

Well, I like to walk in the park.   I try to do it on a weekly basis, if weather permits and if there is no other plans.

I like going to Taman Tasik Permaisuri.  This is where I've been for my walk in the park since last year.  Been coming here Saturday mornings and sometimes weekday evenings.
The park was declared opened by the (then reigning) Queen, Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Bainun in 1989.
It is a beautiful park with jogging tracks, exercise stations and children playground.  It is full of greenery.  It is just so unfortunate to see some parts of the lake is polluted.

Till next week, looking forward to many more walks in the park.

Playing badminton

Playing badminton or any other ball games that require physical activity is not only fun but beneficial to one’s health.

Unlike golf, you don't need to spend a fortune to start playing badminton. You only need a badminton racket, shuttlecock, badminton net and badminton shoes with appropriate attire.  Most of the equipments are reasonably priced.  It is quite easy to learn and enjoyable to play.
We just like to play badminton for fun, not keeping the score.

Hope to be able to find time to play.  Haven't been able to do so this year until last Saturday.

Till next week, let's get up and play ^^

Reading magazines

Magazines supply a variety of news and contribute a great deal to the development of our knowledge ~ wow, I sound like I'm writing an introduction for an essay ~

Magazines are usually published monthly or fortnightly.  I read Cleo, Hello!, Hot, Female and so on.  I know... those are all entertainment magazines.  Well, entertainment stories and celebrities gossips rule the magazine world ^_^ Anyway, I also like flipping through the fashion pages.
I read others too like Reader's Digest, comics, etc

I enjoy reading magazines over hot chocolate, in the airport, in the car service centre, etc...

I do not read entertainment magazines only. I also browse through the property and motor magazines which do not talk about movies, celebrities or health.

It is focused on properties and cars.  It will guide you through the buying or selling process so you can avoid the typical difficulties encountered by novice investors.

Till next week, let me just grab a magazine...

Wedding reception at HGH Convention Centre

Thought of writing something about wedding and my thoughts on it but in the end, decided against it.  Gonna keep it short and simple this week.  Not even gonna mention about food.  Here goes...

Was invited to a friend's wedding reception on Saturday, February 26, 2011.
It was held at HGH Convention Centre.  It was quite easy to find the place.
There were 75 tables for the guests that night.  Imagine the newlyweds have to toast 75 times?!  Well, they didn't... two or three tables combined for a toast!
They have been together since school days and they finally sealed their relationship officially... So happy for them.  Congratulations!

Till next week, wonder if I will ever find love :(

Eating Balinese food

Last Tuesday was a public holiday so I had a very late lunch.  I know I was hungry but just didn't know where to go.  Then I remembered there is a retail complex in Bangsar South which I've never been before. We went there and ended up having lunch at BaliFeel.
It is located at The Sphere, Avenue 1, Bangsar South
It offers authentic Balinese dishes.
We had Kenangan BaliFeel (a combination of grilled chicken wing, sate lilit and cumi cumi served with lalap and spicy sambal)
Siap Megoreng (deep fried marinated half chicken served with lalap and spicy sambal)
Wadeng Sareh (lemongrass tea)
and Es Teller (mix fruits dessert)

Well, nice food, affordable, cozy environment, easy to find parking... didn't know there is such a place in this part of the city

Till next week, let's find something to eat :)

Celebrating Chinese New Year 2011

Chinese New Year festival begins on the first day of the first moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the fifteenth day. February 3, 2011 marks the start of the year of the rabbit.

As early as the second week of January, I received a Chinese New Year card and a hamper.

You know the celebration is coming when you see the decorations at shopping malls.  You may even enjoy the lion or dragon dance performances to commemorate the festival.

The main event in ushering in the New Year is the tossing of the yee sang, a traditional New Year dish, a simple mixture of thin slices of raw fish, shredded vegetables, herbs and sauces.  All the ingredients for the dish are served separately on the same plate, and would then be tossed and mixed, carried with chopsticks high in the air by all at the table, while saying out loud the word loh hei, which means liveliness, prosperity and longevity. This practice is said to herald prosperity for the coming year.

It is customary for married couples to give children and unmarried adults money inserted in red packets known as ang pow, as a gesture to mean that the recipient will enjoy a fruitful and wealthy life.  As I'm still not married, I got to receive ang pow ^.^

During Chinese New Year, 'open' houses are organised for relatives and friends so last Sunday, I went to three.  It was fun meeting those we haven't met for quite a while amidst enjoying good home-cooked meal.

Till next week, happy Chap Goh Meh!
