Last Sunday, April 28, 2013, I joined the World Kidney Day Run 2013 with two of my colleagues. World Kidney Day is on March 14, 2013. It aims to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys to our overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide. In 2013, World Kidney Day is focusing on Acute Kidney Injury ~ "Stop Kidney Attack!" in the hope to raise awareness of Acute Kidney Attack and stimulate discussion, education and policy development leading to improved prevention and treatment of this major public health across the globe.
A friend collected our T-shirts and bibs on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Wisma OCM, Jalan Hang Jebat, Kuala Lumpur.
We were flagged off at 7.40 am. The 5km fun run started and ended at Precinct 3, Putrajaya. We received a certificate of participation and a goodie bag upon completion.
Immediately after the run, we participated in the National Kidney Foundation Early Detection & Prevention Saves Lives Programme - checking Body Mass Index, waist circumference, blood pressure, urinalysis and random blood glucose. The result ~ a healthy me!
There was a round of lucky draw and none of us were lucky :(
Till next week, let's take good care of our kidneys.
