HaritHDouglas stand up comedy

PJ Live Arts is a Not-For-Profit organization and best known as a catalyst for community outreach and support, utilizing arts as a platform to raise funds for cancer treatment, charities and education; and to promote the community involvement in its theatre and audience development.

Their PJ Laugh Fest are back starting from April 28 to June 5, 2011 at PJ Live Arts Theatre at Jaya One. Tonight I watched Harith Iskander and Douglas Lim stand up comedy. The show was about an hour and twenty minutes: 8.50 pm to 10.10 pm.

Didn't get to watch their show last year and it's not going to happen again this year...

Harith Iskander is generally acknowledged as Malaysia's premier stand-up comedian. He has performed live at countless events in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and other countries and entertained thousands of Malaysians and foreigners with his unique and original material. Like Harith Iskander, Douglas Lim is also a stand-up comedian who has also performed at lots of events.

Their jokes are hilarious and it was worth it.  The tickets for all their shows are sold out ~ need I say more?

Till next week, lol...

Hair colouring

Decided that it is time to colour my hair. Black is kinda normal...  so last Saturday I went to iStilo hair studio at The Sphere, Bangsar South.

As I stood outside the salon reading the price list, one of the hairstylists came out and told me about their latest promotion package of RM110 for 3 services/treatments.  I was not interested as I already made up my mind just to colour my hair which is not part of the promotion package.  He then told me that I could have my hair coloured and choose any 3 of the services/treatments in the package for only RM160 which means my hair colouring is only RM50 (Wow!) Of course, I took the deal.  I only used 1 service/treatment this time which is Cellophane - henna wax and I'm gonna use the other two services/treatments in my next visit. Hmmm haven't decide which one to choose...

The process started at 11.20 am and finished at 1.20 pm.  The result... as usual, my black hair just refused to give way to other colours... so nobody notices any changes in my hair colour... what a waste.

Till next week, can't wait for the PJ Laugh Fest!

Painting

Painting and drawing is the art of of using a pigmented medium to create a picture of reality filtered through the imagination, the senses, emotions and life experience.  Artists used many styles - photorealism, realism, painterly, impressionism, expressionism, abstract, etc. in their paintings and drawings. They also used many techniques - oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolour, ink, spray paint, etc.

With that intro, sounds like I'm gonna say I like painting or drawing or I'm good at it ...LOL.  Far from it, actually.  I was just gonna say I wanna buy... and that I have always wanted to have paintings in my house.

I have been looking around for the appropriate ones which, of course, affordable so last Saturday, I went to Galeri Seni Asa Damai located at No.38, Jalan SS19/6, 47500 Subang Jaya.  Not an easy place to find for those who are not familiar with Subang Jaya area.

This is my second visit to the gallery.  I came here about five months ago but didn't buy anything then.  This time, after looking around and taking into consideration my small budget, I bought one painting.
I definitely would like to have more.  Well, I like abstract and scenery paintings.  Gonna have to go visit more art galleries.

Till next week, hope to be able to put it up on the wall ~~

Fish Spa at Kenko Reflexology & Fish Spa

Fish spa is where little fish called Garra Rufa exfoliate the dead skin on feet by eating them.  The fish originate from a hot spring near Kangal, Turkey where it was first discovered for its healing power of skin diseases.  They are commonly known as "Doctor Fish" for their effectiveness in assisting psoriasis and eczema patients in their healing process.

I heard about fish spa and was looking forward to try it.  I finally managed to try it out at Kenko Reflexology and Fish Spa, Mid Valley last Saturday.
Kenko chain of Foot Reflexology Centres and Wellness Spas is founded by Dr Jimi Tan. Dr Tan has more than 15 years of experience in the Foot Reflexology and Wellness Spa industry, and is skillfully trained in Chinese and American techniques of reflexology. He has also developed his very own style of therapeutic massages and treatments for a quick and effective relief from migraine, back and neck problems.  Kenko is well-known for its unique style of reflexology techniques. Their other outlet in Kuala Lumpur is at Pavilion.

Besides fish spa therapy, services such as foot massage, hand massage, shoulder massage, aromatic foot bath, aroma foot therapy, foot exfoliation therapy, acupressure head therapy, ear candling, aroma hand reflexology and body acupressure are also offered here.

When you enter, you tell the staff the service that you would like to have and  paid for it.  For fish spa, you will be asked to wash your feet in the washing area.  Then you will be let to an open room where there are 6 tanks - 2 each according to the fish size - small, medium and big.  You can choose any of those tanks or even try all three.  If you choose to try all sizes, it is advisable to start with the small size, followed by the medium size then the big ones.

It works by soaking your legs into the fish spa tank. As soon as I lowered my feet down, a big group of little Garra Rufa dashed over to start their feeding frenzy.  You can feel the ticklish sensation while they are nibbling away the disease-afflicted skin cells and naturally dead skin cells to allow for ~ hopefully ~ healthy skin to grow.

Till next week, looking forward to another visit to fish spa...

Growing plants

Staying in a condo may not give much space for a garden.  As I like to grow plants, I just have to make full use of whatever space I got: the balcony.
I brought aloe vera plant from hometown last year
From my several trips to nursery, I bought pots,
soils and
and these plants...

I also bought a watering can from IKEA
I got these plants from a colleague on September 9, 2010
and this is how the plants look now
bigger and
trimmer
I also grow plant in water ~ crystal-soil ~
The plants need sufficient fertilizer supply.  Looking after the plants and making sure they stay alive is not easy.  Too much sunlight and too much rain are not good for plant to grow.

I would love to have a nice garden some day, if I have a landed property.

Till next week, let's grow more plants

Shopping at Mutiara Damansara

Shopping is a recreational activity.  Kuala Lumpur may be a shopper's paradise but too bad, I'm not a shopaholic. I just go shopping when I got stuff to buy.  Once on shopping spree, I could spend the whole day doing just that - shopping!

One of my favourite shopping area is Mutiara Damansara.  That is where The Curve, IKEA Home Furnishings, IKANO Power Centre, e@curve and Tesco Hypermarket are located and they are all within walking distance; connected via walkways.
IKEA offers everything to complete your home under one roof ~ sofas, beds, tables, wardrobes, curtains, rugs, lightings, etc ~ I got bar stools and lightings from IKEA... among other things ~.^

Also ordered customised curtain from Macy at IKANO Power Centre.
Sometimes I would just come for lunch or dinner at The Curve,
or movie at e@curve.

Till next week, let's go window shopping ^^

Reading books

"To acquire the habit of reading is to construct for yourself a refuge from almost all the miseries of life." - W. Somerset Maugham.

Reading is an activity many wish they do more but just don't find the time.  Reading a good book can be enjoyable. Reading can relieves us from stress.

I started reading books at a very young age and since then, I have never stopped.  Back then, I read The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew Mysteries, books by Stephen King, The Famous Five by Enid Blyton, Beverly Hills 90210 by Mel Gilden and so on.
I like to read both fiction and non-fiction books - mystery/suspense, thrillers, crime, romance, etc.
I've read Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling, The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven and For One More Day by Albom Mitch, Sex in The City, Lipstick Jungle, Trading Up, Four Blondes, Fifth Avenue and The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger, A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks, Dance, Dance, Dance by Haruki Murakami and many many more.  I could just go on and on with the books I've read over the years...  there are too many. I'm reading The House of the Mosque by Kader Abdolah at the moment.

I'm trying to make more time reading by cutting back on TV or internet consumption.  Hmmm not easy ~_^

Till next week, let's read a book...
