Sunday afternoon break at Makan Space and The Coffee Code

Caught up with an old friend on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Makan Space Cafe located at Wisma Sanyan, Jalan Sanyan, 96000 Sibu.
We had Sarawak laksa,
chicken wings,
Korean seafood pancake,
and I had a teapot of red tea.
A lot of things on the menu were not available so we left for another cafe, The Coffee Code.
The Coffee Code is located at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, 96000 Sibu. Its business hours are from 1 pm to 11pm daily.
We had hot chocolate,
ice-blended chocolate
and black bean with barley waffle.
Instead of catching up on current update, we reminisced over our school days.

Till next week, counting hours and minutes to the new year 2016 :-)

Celebrating birthday at 88c Bakery Cafe

Last Thursday, December 10, 2015, I treated a friend for her belated birthday dinner. Her actual birthday was on December 5.
This year I decided to go to 88c Bakery Cafe located at No.2G, Jalan 3/116B, Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park, off Jalan Kuchai Lama, 58200 KL.
Its opening hours are from 10 am to 2 am daily.
There is a variety of cakes and pastries baked daily.
Our choices are the chef's recommendation.
We  started with appetiser,
mushroom cappucino soup
and Caesar salad
~ taste-wise is alright ~
For main course, we had fried tomyam
~ tasted no-so-good ~
 and fried spaghetti chicken chop.
~ the spaghetti is good but the chicken chop not so much ~
 Lastly, our dessert, chocolate cake
~ yummy ~
Location ~ nearby
Food presentation ~ alright
Portion ~ generous especially the chicken chop (didn't expect it to be that big)
Service ~ not bad
Coming back? Don't think so :(

Here's wishing good health and happiness! Happy belated birthday!

Wedding dinner at SY Restaurant, Batu Pahat

Attended a colleague's wedding dinner on Saturday, November 28, 2015. It has been a year since I last attended a wedding reception ~ my first one in Batu Pahat.
It was a road trip for my ex-colleagues and I. We had breakfast at Subway at 8.30 am and left for Johor Premium Outlets (JPO) at 9 am. JPO is located at Indahpura, 81000 Kulai, Johor.
We reached JPO before noon and we had lunch at Absolute Thai Restaurant before we started shopping. Didn't find anything interesting so I left empty-handed at 3.15 pm. We reached Just Hotel, Batu Pahat at 5.15 pm.

We don't want to be late for the dinner so we left at 6.50 pm. The event started at 8.30 pm ~ not punctual as all of us had expected ~ and we left around 11pm.
It was an 8-course dinner (as usual).
The bride looks radiantly beautiful and happy. It was great meeting and catching up with ex-colleagues.

Wishing the newly weds a wonderful life as husband and wife!

November rain in Seoul

On Wednesday, November 11, 2015, we departed from Haneda Airport at 4.05 pm and arrived at Gimpo Airport at 8.35 pm. Took the 8.35 pm bus to Sokcho and reached the Intercity Bus Terminal at 11.14 pm.  Then we took a taxi (KRW3,000) to James Blue Hostel and checked in around 11.30 pm.

The next morning, Thursday, November 12, 2015, we had breakfast ~ toasted bread with strawberry jam and tea at the dining room.

We left by 9 am bus (KRW1,200) to Soeraksan National Park.
Admission fee is KRW3,500.

I visited the Shinheungsa Temple Bojeru.
The temple was established in 1770.
The foundation is made up of two layers of big long stones.

We left the park by 1.15 pm bus for a long relaxing lunch... fresh seafood :-)

The cook and her friends were having this noodles. They offered us to try some but we declined.  We were too full by then. I just gotta take a photo... looks so yummy :)
After lunch, around 4.10 pm, we took the 'Gaetbae' boat (KRW200) to Abai Village.
'Gaetbae' boat can hold up to 35 people.
It operates on manpower ~ people pull on ropes to move the boat across a waterway.
Abai Village is a small village of North Korean refugees located in Cehong-Ho District, Sokcho City, Gangwon Province, South Korea.
The streets of Cheongho-dong are lined with small Korean houses.

This area became famous after the Korean drama, Gaeul Donghwa (Autumn in My Heart) was filmed here.

On Friday, November 13, 2015, we had breakfast ~ also toasted bread with strawberry jam and tea at the dining room.

At 9 am, we checked out and took a taxi (KRW2,800) to Sokcho bus terminal. Then we took the 9.30 am bus (KRW17,300) to the Central City Terminal. We reached there at 11.52 am. It was raining heavily so we decided to take taxi (KRW15,400) to Naedaemun Guesthouse located at 82-33, Hoehyun-dong 1 ga, Chung-gu, Seoul.

After lunch, we walked to the subway station. We were provided with the subway prepaid card and we only need to top it up which we did (KRW10,000).
Our first destination was Lotte World Mall.
Of course, the reason we went to that mall was to drop by Hard Rock Cafe.

On Saturday, November 14, 2015, we had breakfast ~ toasted bread with strawberry jam and tea.
After breakfast, we took the subway to Ewha Womans University.
We reached the campus at 10 am and we walked around for about an hour.
Ewha Womans University is a private women's university in central Seoul, South Korea founded in 1886 by the American Methodist Episcopal missionary Mary F. Scranton. The name Ewha was bestowed by King Gojong upon the founding of Ewha to commemorate the beginning of women's education in Korea.
At 2.30 pm, we went to Good Morning City Mall at Dongdaemun for a short while . Then we went shopping at Namdaemun market till 4 pm.

After dinner, around 7 pm, we took the cable car (KRW6,000) to Namsan Tower.
The N Seoul Tower, commonly known as the Namsan Tower or Seoul Tower, is a communication and observation tower located on Namsan Mountain in central Seoul, South Korea.
At 236m, it marks the highest point in Seoul.
Seoul Tower was opened to the public on October 15, 1980 and the observatory offers panoramic views of Seoul and the surrounding areas. Thirty years later, the structure was renamed 'N Seoul Tower'.
Here are some of the love padlocks formations on the mountain.

Then we decided to walk down instead of taking the cable car.
The next morning, we checked out at 8.10 am and took a taxi to the airport. It was a 45 minutes journey. Departed from Incheon Airport at 11.25 am and arrived at KLIA at 4.45 pm. It was another wet adventure.  It was raining everyday we were there.

Till next week, so glad to have a break from work.
