Visiting new mother at Columbia Asia Hospital - Setapak

Last Monday, July 29, 2013, a friend gave birth to a healthy 3.5 kg baby girl at Columbia Asia Hospital - Setapak.

Columbia Asia Hospital - Setapak was launched in February 2012.  It is a 84-bed private hospital located at No.1, Jalan Danau Saujana, Off Jalan Genting Klang, 53300 Kuala Lumpur. This was my first visit to the hospital.

We visited her in the evening after work.  She was lying on the bed with her new baby next to her bed when we came.  I bought her Eu Yan Sang Herbal Bath for post-natal and newborn.  Looks familiar? Yeah, bought the same for another new mother last year. Guess I'm really running out of ideas ;)

Celebrating birthday at Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant

My cousin was in Bandung on her birthday so we only managed to have dinner on Thursday, June 20, 2013. She chose to have dinner at Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant. The restaurant is located at Lot T208, 3rd Floor, The Gardens, Mid Valley City, Lingkaran Syed Putra, 59200 Kuala Lumpur. 

There is always a long queue for a table so we joined the queue while looking through the menu.

Ordered sweet potato balls for RM6.30,

fried mushroom for RM13.80,

dry udon beef set meal for RM20.80

tea smoked duck with glass noodle for RM18.80,

orange yogurt juice and

pudding milk tea.

The udon was spicy and the beef was soft and tender. The duck and the glass noodle are a bit salty.  Didn't expect big portions of sweet potato balls and fried mushroom. They are delicious, though. So are the drinks.

Travelling to Singapore

Looks like I never had enough of Singapore :)  In less than two weeks, I was back in the lion city. This time I was nominated to go to Singapore to attend a technical workshop. On Tuesday, June 11, 2013, my flight left LCCT at 2.40 pm and reached Changi Airport at 3.40 pm. Took another one hour for immigration clearance.

Went straight to the hotel - M Hotel, located at 81 Anson Road, Singapore 079908. It consists of 413 rooms and suites. Rooms are equipped with Wi-fi connection, television, fridge, iron+iron board, hair dryer, bathroom with separate shower and bath tub, tea, coffee and more.

The next two mornings we had buffet breakfast at Cafe 2000.  Our training venue is about 15-20 minutes walk away.

On Wednesday, June 12, 2013, a colleague and I went to Marina Bay Sands by MRT.

We walked in the Garden by the Bay... Here's a night view of the Supertrees ~ tree-like structures that dominate the Gardens' landscape with heights that range between 25 m and 50 m.

Paid SGD5 to get up the OCBC Skyway, a 128m long walkway with a height of 22m that connects two Supertrees at the Supertree Grove.  Took a stroll along the walkway to take in a different view of the Gardens  and the surrounding Marina Bay area.

Left Changi Airport at 7.10 pm and reached LCCT at 8 pm on Thursday, June 13, 2013.

ntv7 Feel Good Run 2013

Last Sunday, July 7, 2013, I was supposed to join the ntv7 feel good run with two of my colleagues.  Feel Good Run is an annual charity fun run with celebrities organised by ntv7. The starting point is at Sri Pentas, Bandar Utama while the finish line is at Central Park, One Utama.  

Feel Good Run 2013 has chosen Hospis Malaysia, Malaysian Rare Disorders Society, Rumah Kanak-Kanak Tengku Budriah and SPCA as beneficiaries.

Collected the T-shirt, message bib and runner's guide on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Dewan Serbaguna MBPJ (BU3), Jalan BU3/1, Bandar Utama, 47800 Petaling Jaya.

Now here comes the bad news ~ I was down with fever last weekend and missed out... hmmm people say, "There's always next time!"

A weekend in Singapore

On Saturday, June 1, 2013, five of us took a bus to Universal Studios Singapore (USS). Left JB at 9 am and reached USS after 11 am after a long queue at the Immigration. 

Universal Studios Singapore is a theme park located within Resorts World Sentosa on Sentosa Island, Singapore. The RM165 entrance fee ticket includes SGD10 meal voucher which we used for lunch at Mel's Drive.

Watched the Shrek-4D adventure, Lights! Camera! Action! hosted by Steven Spielberg (twice!), Waterworld and Donkey Live. 

Didn't get on any ride except Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase (don't laugh!)

At 5.30 pm, we left USS to check in at the hotel.  Then we took a bus to Bugis Street. Didn't buy anything though. We were back in the hotel at 11.30 pm. Went to sleep immediately after I took shower.

The next day, we took a bus to Bugis Street and walked to Victoria Street where we took a cab to go back to JB. It only costs us SGD10 per person. It was so convenient as we don't have to go down for immigration check. Left Singapore at 9.38 am and reached JB one hour later.

It was a short trip but it was worth it coz at least now I can say I've been to USS haha
